From October 2 to 4, the number of tourists surged in Qilian County, Haibei Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province.

According to Feng Lingling, director of the Qilian County Culture, Sports, Tourism, Radio and Television Bureau, based on an estimate of 35,000 vehicles, more than 100,000 people poured into Qilian County on October 3 alone.

More than 400 hotels and homestays across the county were fully booked, and local authorities opened school dormitories and mobilized supplies to provide free accommodation for tourists. Many tourists expressed their thanks on social media.

Tourist Ms. Zhang said that her group of four arrived in Qilian County on October 3, and that day they searched for accommodation in many ways without success. On the advice of local residents, she called the Qilian cultural tourism hotline, and under the guidance of staff members, they stayed free of charge in school dormitories at Qilian County Ethnic Middle School, avoiding spending the cold night in their car.

Zhang said: "At least we didn't have to sleep in the car. It would have been especially cold in the car, and if someone caught a cold, that night might have been very hard to get through. At the time, it felt like a beam of light suddenly shone through, and I thought it was really wonderful."

On October 5, a staff member of the Qilian County Culture and Tourism Bureau said that from October 2 to 4, the number of tourists surged, and local authorities urgently opened school dormitories that were vacant during the holiday as emergency accommodation points, while coordinating with the emergency management bureau to allocate supplies and set up beds.

From October 3 to 2:30 a.m. on October 4 alone, more than 500 calls for help were received from tourists, involving more than 800 people. After coordination, 453 people were accommodated in schools, and 200 people were housed by mobilizing rural tourism reception sites, hotels, and homestays to free up spare beds, as well as by using rooms vacated through hotel cancellations.

The warm-hearted measures received widespread praise from tourists. The staff member said: "Although it is very tiring, we still feel gratified. Seeing tourists' likes, replies, and messages, I feel this is a two-way connection."
