Maoyan Entertainment (01896) dropped more than 4%, falling 4.3% as of press time to HK$3.78, with a turnover of HK$2.7894 million.

On the news front, according to Maoyan Professional Edition, the box office on October 1 this year reached approximately 180 million yuan, hitting a new low in recent years.

It is understood that the National Day opening day box office last year in 2025 was 321 million yuan, with the peak reaching 815 million yuan in 2019.

A Citi research report last month pointed out that investors had low expectations for the National Day holiday box office, mainly due to weak consumption and a lack of clear blockbusters, while the combined Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day long holiday could also lead to tourism replacing movie consumption; the bank predicted that the 2026 National Day holiday box office would be 1.6 billion yuan, a year-on-year decline of 12%.
