After the National Day holiday began, the sidewalk pavement replacement project on Heping Erdao Street in Xiangfang District was officially launched, with more than 10 workers from the road maintenance and construction team of the Xiangfang District Urban Management Department seizing the holiday "golden period" to fully advance road maintenance and repair.

The sidewalk pavement replacement area on Heping Erdao Street is about 900 square meters. Residential areas and schools are densely distributed along Heping Erdao Street, and daily foot traffic is heavy.

"For us road and bridge workers, the more it is a holiday, the more it is a favorable time to seize for construction," said the person in charge of the municipal road maintenance department of the Xiangfang District Urban Management Bureau. Heping Erdao Street is close to the Wenhua campus of Zhongshan Road Primary School, so completing construction while students are on vacation means it will not affect the children going to and from school after classes resume, making it a good time to repair the road. The project is expected to be completed by October 6.

At the construction site, workers need to remove the original damaged pavement slabs one by one, then lay new slabs with stronger load-bearing capacity. They first use a thin line to mark the laying direction, then lay the slabs one by one along the thin line, and gently tap the brick surface with a rubber hammer to further align them. The process is detailed and painstaking.

The person in charge said that every National Day period is a golden season for urban road maintenance and repair. Temperatures are suitable at this time, and most crucially, there are fewer pedestrians and vehicles on the roads, with no morning and evening traffic peaks. Many road maintenance projects are completed during the holiday to minimize the impact on residents' travel.
