On October 5 local time, a British Airways passenger jet bound from London Heathrow Airport to Chicago declared an emergency during its flight and subsequently turned back to London.
Flight tracking data showed that the flight in question was British Airways flight BA295, operated by a Boeing aircraft.
After takeoff, the plane flew westward before reversing course in airspace near western Britain and in the direction of Ireland. Its flight path showed the aircraft made multiple heading adjustments near southern Wales and the Bristol Channel before returning to London Heathrow Airport.
The specific reason for the emergency declaration remains unclear at this time, and British Airways has not released further details.
