Paramount Skydance (PSKY) CEO David Ellison has asked CNN CEO Mark Thompson to remain at his post after Paramount completes its acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD), the Wall Street Journal reported Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter.

Thompson's current deal runs into early next year, and he has had talks with Ellison about a new contract, though they haven't reached terms, the report said.

Thompson is seeking assurances that he will have autonomy over editorial decisions, the report said.

Paramount and CNN didn't immediately reply to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
