Ford Motor sold fewer vehicles in the third quarter compared to a year ago, citing the phase out of two of its models.
The car maker on Friday said it sold 509,764 vehicles in the third quarter, down 6.6% from the year-ago period.
Ford attributed the drop to the phaseout of its Escape and Lincoln Corsair vehicles. Adjusting for those models, Ford's total vehicle sales volume was about flat, the company said.
In the quarter, sport-utility-vehicle sales fell 17%. Truck sales ticked up 0.5% while car sales rose 7.5%, Ford said.
