Alibaba Group Holding (HKG:9988) has held preliminary talks with Spanish renewable energy producer Solaria Energía y Medio Ambiente about supplying power for a potential data center in Spain, Bloomberg News reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

The solar plant under consideration is in Puertollano, about 240 kilometers south of Madrid, according to the report.

The project is in its early stages, and Alibaba has also spoken with other potential power suppliers, the report added.

Alibaba and Solaria did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
