0431 GMT - The euro may weaken if expectations ease for the European Central Bank's further rate increases, say SMBC Nikko Securities strategists in a note. ECB Chief Economist Philip Lane said Monday the recent rise in energy prices may cool demand in the eurozone, possibly limiting the need for rate increases. The ECB's cautious stance on rate increases and prospects of any potential government bond-purchase programs are likely to raise speculation for a weaker euro, the Japanese brokerage says. Having fallen sharply in recent sessions amid concerns about French debt, the euro is coming into sight of $1.10, the brokerage says. The euro is last at $1.1218.
