Australian data center company Airtrunk will make an additional $1 billion investment in its hyperscale data center campus in Inzai, Japan, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing CEO Robin Khuda.

The amount will be allocated to liquid technology deployment that will support AI workloads, making the TOK1 site as the first campus in Japan to potentially have such large-scale deployment, the report cited Khuda as saying.

Asia and Japan will see greater prospects for AI infrastructure deployment amid challenges in the U.S. and Europe, the report cited the executive as saying.

Airtrunk did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
