Abbott Laboratories (ABT) said Monday that it has received US Food and Drug Administration approval for technology that provides updates directly to patients through its CardioMEMS HF System.
The company said the technology allows doctors to share daily heart pressure readings directly with patients between office visits. It said the technology also provides the ability to send medication adjustment instructions to patients' smartphones and measures pressure through an implanted sensor in the pulmonary artery.
Abbott said it plans to make CardioGuide HF App and Dynamic Treatment Plan available later in the year.
