Hong Kong stocks edged higher Monday in thin trading as investors scaled back expectations for another Federal Reserve rate hike this month.
The Hang Seng Index rose 68.05 points, or 0.3%, to close at 24,040.34, while the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index gained 21.13 points, or 0.3%, to finish at 8,051.67.
U.S. jobs data showed employment growth slowed more than expected in September, with payrolls for the previous two months revised sharply lower.
Markets now price in less than a 20% chance of a Fed rate hike this month, down from 64% a week earlier.
Oil prices eased as rising Middle East crude exports and a G7 oil-stock release boosted supplies.
China's onshore markets remained closed for the National Day holiday, with trading set to resume Oct. 8.
